Louise contacted me some time ago inquiring about doing a shoot while she and her partner, Phillip would be in the city visiting from Australia. We set up the shoot and I was so excited meet them. We started off just walking around Central Park getting some lovely shots like this one:

We headed up towards the Literary Walk and took a few more shots, then Phillip said, “can I try a pose?” I nodded yes and he continued with, “Lou doesn’t know about this one.” As soon as he said that, I knew what was coming and bolted away from them (while shooting, of course) to give them some privacy. Then I realized that I still had my wide angle lens on and since I didn’t know how long the moment might last, I chose not to try to switch lenses, so I had to creep up pretty close to them to get the shots, but I think they were both pre-occupied enough that they didn’t mind me snapping away right in their faces (I hope!). So this turned out to be an engagement shoot in a very literal way!

I felt incredibly honored to document such a special moment for them. And guys? My eyes were just watering from the cold, I swear!
We continued through the park and on to Times Square for some more great shots.

They were SUCH a great couple to spend an afternoon with; I really enjoyed the time I spent with them. I hope to see them again sometime (perhaps when they come back to see NYC in the Autumn, when I personally think it is most breathtaking).
Congratulations, Phillip and Louise. I truly hope you enjoy your images.
